The Surf was born on the Pacific Ocean in Polynesia, and start to grow in the North Polynesia in Hawaii. Since the 15th century it became a major element in the community life
James Cook 1728-1779 was one on the first to discover Surf during one his expeditions, he sae natives using Waves with board made from Hawaiian tree
The 19th century is the dark era of the Surf, the sport was prohibited by the American authority during the colonialism. In fact some missionary were offended by the way Natives were Surfing almost naked.
Thank’s to Duke Kananamuku the Surf reborn in the Hawaii’s in the beginning of the 20th century spreading in the US and Australia, in the 50s 60s it is the explosion with new board fabrication techniques using foam instead of wood.
